CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Lindenwood women's wrestling team concluded their weekend at the NWCA National Duals on Saturday afternoon. The Lions finished sixth place overall after battling their way through the consolation bracket to reach the fifth-place match.
LU defeated Sacred Heart 26-22 on Saturday morning as four Lions recorded falls in the match, including
Sienna Caruso (103 lbs.),
Kate Cooper (110 lbs.),
Madeline Haynes (145 lbs.), and
Makayla Rivera (180 lbs.).
In the fifth-place bout, Lindenwood dropped their rematch against No. 6 Presbyterian by a score of 27-20.
Sienna Caruso and
Jacinda Espinosa registered pins in the match while
Kate Cooper and
Makayla Rivera prevailed with tech falls to also finish 2-0 on the day.
The Lions finished the two-day event with an overall record of 27-23, with Espinosa and Rivera posting perfect 5-0 marks.
