NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Lindenwood women's wrestling team took part in the North Central College Invitational in Naperville on Saturday, with
Jacinda Espinosa posting a sixth-place finish at 138 lbs.
Espinosa won her first three matches, defeating William Jewell's Jennifer De La Torre (TF, 10-0), Quincy's Madeline Barton (5-2 Dec.), and Carley Ceshker (Fall, 4:33) to advance to the semifinal round.
After dropping the semifinal bout against Claire DiCugno (TF,11-0), Espinosa was defeated in her first consolation matchup against Jennifer Soto of Tarleton State (TF, 12-2) before falling in the fifth-place match against Iowa's Ella Schmit (Fall, 2:40).
It was Espinosa's third individual placement of the season, adding to her first-place finish at the Luther Hill Invitational and fourth-place performance at the Missouri Valley Open.
Saki Yoshikawa (117 lbs.) also had a strong outing, winning three consecutive matches in the consolation bracket after dropping her first round bout, concluding the day with a 3-2 record.
Kate Cooper (110 lbs.) and
Sienna Caruso (103 lbs.) posted 2-2 records with one pin apiece.
The Lions went a combined 14-27 at the meet with six pins.

Following the holiday break, Lindenwood returns to action at the NWCA National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The event is scheduled to get underway at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9th.
