ST. CHARLES, Mo. - On Tuesday morning, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced that
Zach Solomon has been named the AVCA National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Player of the Week for his performances last week against #7 Loyola and #11 Lewis. This marks Solomon's first ever National Player of the Week award and the first player in the history of Lindenwood Men's Volleyball to win the award.
The Senior Setter from Muskego, WI had 84 assists on the week and averaged 12 assists per set in wins over #7 Loyola and #11 Lewis. On Wednesday, Solomon tied for the match-high in assists with 45 and recorded his first double-double of the season by adding 10 digs in the four set win over the Ramblers. He then recorded a match-high 39 assists in the three set victory over #11 Lewis and tied for a match-high with five service aces to help the Lions start off MIVA play 2-0 for the first time since the 2020 season. Solomon leads the MIVA this season in total service aces with 25 and ranks third in the country in assists per set (10.91) and aces per set (.806).
Lindenwood returns to action on Thursday night at Purdue Fort Wayne which marks the first road game for the Lions since January 10. First serve with the Mastodons is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
