The Lindenwood Softball team began their season winning three out of four games at the Stinger Classic to open the 2026 campaign.
Tori Hatton led the Lions offensively batting .429 across all four games and drove in 11 RBI with a grand slam to cap off her weekend, while
Emily Geary led Lindenwood with two home runs in back-to-back games on Saturday in wins over Northern Kentucky and Murray State to finish the weekend with five RBI and a slugging percentage of .923.
The pitching staff and defense was another bright spot from the Stinger Classic as well. The defense recorded a double play on both Friday and Saturday, and the pitching staff allowed just one earned run in 12 innings pitched on Saturday to help the Lions go 2-0 on the day.
Lucy Pratt and
Avery Wapp each picked up their first wins of the season on Saturday, with both starting pitchers throwing four innings and allowing one and zero runs respectively. Wapp struck out five in her first start of the season against Northern Kentucky and was later named the OVC Pitcher of the Week as the Senior pitcher threw 6.2 innings in two appearances striking out nine total batters on the weekend. Hatton was also named the OVC Player of the Week as the Lions swept the first OVC Softball Player of the Week awards of the 2026 season.
Scouting the Opposition
- North Alabama is 4-1 on the 2026 season after winning four of their first five games at the Trojan Classic last weekend.Two of their wins were by mercy rule.
- Samford is 2-4 with wins over UConn and Alabama State. Three of their four losses are to Iowa and #7 Florida State.
- Belmont is 3-2 with two wins over Missouri State and one win over #20/#15 Georgia.
