LEADING OFF
Following a midweek trip to Illinois, the Lindenwood baseball team returns to Lou Brock Sports Complex this weekend to host Northern Illinois. Game one of the four game series is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27th and will represent the first ever meeting between the two programs.

LAST TIME OUT
The Lions fell 13-9 at Illinois on Wednesday afternoon. LU held a lead in the fifth inning before the Illini reeled off seven unanswered runs to break the game open. Itwas the most productive outing of the season thus far for the Lindenwood offense, surpassing their previous high of six runs scored. Charlie Isom-McCall led the Lions with two hits and four RBIs, while Filip Sarota posted a three-hit, two RBI outing.

NOTES TO KNOW
  • Lindenwood has a team ERA of 4.15, which is best in the Ohio Valley Conference through the season's early going. The Lions have allowed over two runs in just three of their eight contests.
  • Seth Benes is 2-0 on the mound after allowing zero runs through a pair of seven-inning starts. He leads the Lions in strikeouts (12) and is limiting opposing hitters to a batting average of .191.
  • It has been a slow start for LU's offense, with the Lions currently possessing the lowest batting average in the OVC (.240).
  • Freshman Will Geary leads Lindenwood with 14 hits, including two doubles and a triple. He is batting .424 with a .486 on-base percentage.
  • Lindenwood is 18-10 at home dating back to the beginning of last season.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
  • NIU has an overall record of 4-3 after a two-week trip to the Carolinas to begin the season. The Huskies defeated Wofford 9-6 last time out.
  • Northern is hitting .245 as a team with a .406 on-base percentage. Cole Smith leads the team in batting average (.355), RBIs (8), doubles (3), triples (2), and home runs (2).
  • NIU pitchers have combined for an ERA of 5.65. Danny Cihocki is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA and 0.83 WHIP through a team-leading 12.0 innings pitched. He is tied with Carter Cox for the team lead in strikeouts while holding opposing batters to .182 average.
