Men's Volleyball Starts MIVA Play On Wednesday Against Loyola Chicago

Last Time Out
The Lions pushed their winning streak to six games with four set victories at home over Rockhurst University and Missouri S&T. Both matches saw Lindenwood drop the first set and come back in the fourth set to improve to 6-1 on the season. In the win over Rockhurst, Luke Kraft had a match-high 15 kills and hit .444 to lead the way offensively. The Junior Opposite Hitter added two service aces and three blocks in the win over the Hawks. Brendan Louthain, Caden Whiteside, and Amir Grant each had 10 or more kills in the matchup against the hawks while Zach Solomon finished with a match-high 47 assists. In Saturday's win over Missouri S&T, Solomon had another match-high of 50 assists and Louthain led the way with a match-high 17 kills. The Lions finished the week hitting over .300 in both matches and will now shift their attention to #7 Loyola Chicago on Wednesday night to open MIVA play. 
 
Scouting The Ramblers 
Loyola is ranked number seven in the latest AVCA Men's Volleyball National Collegiate Poll after picking up their third win over a ranked opponent this season on Saturday night, defeating #11 UC San Diego in four sets. The other two ranked wins for the Ramblers this season are over #2 Hawaii and #11 Stanford.

Loyola Chicago is led by Junior Opposite Hitter Aleksandar Sosa who leads the Ramblers with 122 kills in 28 sets played. Sosa has 10 or more kills in every single match played this season except for one when he recorded nine kills in their season opener against Hawaii. The Junior recorded a season-high 26 kills with a hitting percentage of .447 in their win over #11 Stanford on January 17. 

The Lions are 4-8 all time against Loyola on their home court and will look to win their first home match over the Ramblers since February 23, 2024.

  • Zach Solomon and Luke Kraft rank number one and two in the MIVA in service aces with 20 and 15 respectively.
