Women's Basketball Hits the Road to Face Little Rock

The Lindenwood women's basketball team (17-7, 9-4 OVC) is set for a quick turn around and hits the road to take on Little Rock (11-11, 7-5 OVC) on Thursday in Little Rock, Ark. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.

The Lions are coming off an 82-69 win over SIUE on Tuesday. Lindenwood had another strong shooting night from the field, knocking down 53 percent of its shots, while also shooting 42 percent from three-point range and 89 percent from the charity stripe. Lindenwood ranks top 20 nationally in field goal percentage, top five nationally in three-point percentage, while shooting 76 percent from the foul line as a team.

The game was close throughout, but the Black and Gold pulled away late, outscoring the Cougars 25-10 in the final quarter to earn the win. Lindenwood has a plus-76 point differential in the fourth quarter this season, which is its second-best point differential in any quarter this year.

Lindenwood had five players in double figures on Tuesday night in what was a balanced offensive attack. Ellie Brueggemann led the way with 18 points and shot 6-of-10 from the field, including 3-of-5 from three-point range. The Owasso, Okla. native has made at least three shots from beyond the arc in four consecutive games and is shooting 45.3 percent from deep this season and 50 percent from the field overall.

Mya Skoff had one of her better games of the season, scoring 17 points, including 10 in the second half. The 17 points for the Bellevue, Neb. native was two off her season-high as she shot 6-of-9 from the field and 4-of-five from the foul line.

The other three Lions in double figures were Aleshia Jones, Brooke Coffey, and Gracie Kelsey. Kelsey had a high start to the game, scoring nine of her 11 points in the first quarter. Jones finished with 13 points and added five rebounds and three steals, while Coffey had 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Lindenwood took advantage of the turnover battle, getting 22 points off of 15 SIUE turnovers. Additionally, the Lions only committed seven turnovers of their own, their second fewest in a game this season.

With a win over Little Rock, Lindenwood would complete its third sweep of a team this season. A victory would also give the Black and Gold their 10th conference win of the year, something they would accomplish in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2019-20, and 2020-21.
