ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Ohio Valley Conference announced on Monday afternoon that
Tori Hatton and
Avery Wapp have been named the OVC Player and Pitcher of the Week for their performances from over the weekend at the Stinger Classic.
Hatton appeared in all four games for the Lions and batted .429 with an OPS of 1.253. The Senior infielder from Troy, Mo knocked in 11 RBI and hit a grand slam in Lindenwood's 7-1 victory over Northern Kentucky on Saturday morning. Hatton also recorded two doubles and finished the first weekend of the season with a slugging percentage of .786 and picked up six total hits at the Stinger Classic.
Meanwhile,
Avery Wapp appeared in two games for Lindenwood and struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings pitched. The Senior pitcher from Bloomington, Ill finished the Stinger Classic with a 0.00 ERA and got her first win of the season on Saturday against Northern Kentucky. Wapp pitched four innings in the contest with NKU, striking out five and allowing three hits.
The Lions will be back in action this weekend as they will travel to Birmingham, AL for the Samford University Tournament beginning on Friday. Lindenwood will play two games on both Friday and Saturday with their final game of the tournament being on Sunday at 10 a.m. CT.
