Baseball Set to Host Murray State this Weekend

Game one against the 2025 CWS qualifier gets underway at 3:00 p.m. Friday

LEADING OFF
The Lindenwood baseball team hosts Murray State this weekend at the Lou Brock Sports Complex. A long-time member of the OVC, the Racers made the move to the Missouri Valley Conference prior to the 2023 season before making their first ever College World Series appearance in 2025. Lindenwood is 0-5 all-time against MSU, with all five previous meetings occurring on the road.

LAST TIME OUT
Lindenwood took a pair of midweek contests against Bradley this Tuesday and Wednesday, winning game one 6-5 before completing the sweep with a 11-6 victory in game two. Tyler Ellis hit .500 (4-8) in the series with a double, home run, and team-leading four RBIs.

NOTES TO KNOW
  • Lindenwood enters this weekend with an overall record of 8-9 with a 5-4 record at home.  
  • The Lions are second in the OVC with a team ERA of 4.63 with a pair of shutouts. They are limiting their opponents to a batting average of .258, which is second lowest in the conference.
  • Seth Benes leads the OVC with a 1.08 ERA through a league-high 25.0 innings pitched. He has a team-high 23 strikeouts and is holding opposing batters to a .174 average.
  • LU is batting .257 this season, which is the third lowest average in the OVC.
  • Jake Radosevich leads Lindenwood with a .333 batting average, also pacing the team in home runs (4) and RBIs (18).
SCOUTING THE RACERS
  • Murray State possesses and overall record of 11-6, most recently getting swept by UCF in Orlando last weekend before picking up a midweek win over Kentucky State on Wednesday. MSU is 1-5 on the road this season.
  • The Racers are batting .305 as a team this season. Luke Milstone leads MSU with a .425 batting average while also pacing the squad in doubles (5) and RBIs (25). His 31 hits are second most nationally.
  • Murray State pitchers have combined for a 5.31 ERA. Nic Schute leads the team in wins with a 3-1 record, posting a 3.68 ERA with a team-high 21 strikeouts. Closing pitcher Dylan Zentko has three saves with a 0.96 ERA through 9.1 innings of work.
WEEKLY AWARDS
Jake Radosevich and Aaron Jungers both earned Ohio Valley Conference weekly honors following their spectacular performances at Iowa last weekend, with Radosevich being named Player of the Week and Jungers tabbed Pitcher of the Week. Jake Radosevich was a force at the plate for Lindenwood against the Hawkeyes, slugging 1.273 with three homers and a double while driving in eight total runs. Meanwhile, Aaron Jungers was nearly perfect in Lindenwood's 4-3 win on Saturday, tossing five shutout innings in relief with seven strikeouts for his second win of the season.

PITCHER OF THE YEAR
Seth Benes and Josh Newell were named to the College Baseball Foundation Pitcher of the Year Watch List, which was released on Wednesday. Benes is 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA and a team-leading 23 strikeouts and did not allow a run through his first 23.2 innings pitched to begin the season. 2025 OVC Pitcher of the Year Josh Newell has also had a strong start, posting a 2-1 record with a 3.38 ERA. He has 14 strikeouts compared to only eight walks through 21.1 innings of work.
