On Tuesday morning, the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association announced that Sophomore Libero Lincoln Geist has been named the MIVA Defensive Player of the Week for his performances over the weekend at Queens. Geist averaged 2.25 digs per set across eight sets played, and finished the weekend with a 100% reception percentage on 40 total attempts. This marks Geist's second MIVA defensive honor and first of the 2026 season.

The native of Westmont, Ill recorded 18 total digs and had nine digs per match at Queens which were both match-highs. In Thursday's sweep over the Royals, Geist averaged 3 digs per set and followed that on Saturday by averaging 1.8 digs per set in the five set victory. The Sophomore has already set his career-high for digs in a single season with 131, and has recorded eight or more digs in nine matches so far this season. In the MIVA, Geist ranks sixth in digs and digs per set (1.87). During conference play, Geist is fourth in the MIVA in digs with 74 and is averaging two digs per set. 

Geist and the Lions will return to action this Thursday at home for a big MIVA match against Ball State. First serve from Hyland Arena is set for 7 p.m. CT.
