LEADING OFF
The Lindenwood baseball team hits the road for a three-game set at Iowa this weekend. The Hawkeyes will be the second Big Ten opponent the Lions have faced this season after meeting Illinois in a midweek contest last Wednesday. Iowa and Lindenwood have never met on the diamond.
LAST TIME OUT
Lindenwood dropped three of four against Northern Illinois over the weekend. The Lions took the series opener with a 13-3 run rule victory before falling 3-2 and 5-1 on Saturday and losing Sunday's series finale by a score of 14-8.
Charlie Isom-McCall had a strong showing at the plate, going 6-12 with three doubles, five runs scored, two RBIs, and two stolen bases.
NOTES TO KNOW
- Lindenwood enters this weekend with an overall record of 5-7 after dropping three of four against Northern Illinois last weekend.
- The Lions have leaned heavily on pitching for much of the season thus far. They lead the OVC with a team ERA of 4.44 with a pair of shutouts and have held opponents to five or fewer runs in eight of 12 games.
- Seth Benes is 2-0 on the season, allowing zero runs through 21.0 innings pitched. He leads the Lions with 17 strikeouts.

- Iowa is 8-4 with a 3-0 record at home this season. They went 1-2 at the Frisco baseball classic last weekend, picking up a 6-4 win over Houston.
- The Hawkeyes are batting .351 as a team this season, which ranks in the top five nationally. Gable Mitchell leads Iowa with a .521 batting average, six doubles, and 14 RBIs.
- Iowa pitchers have combined for a 5.21 ERA through the season's early weeks, allowing an opponent batting average of .266. They've struck out 107 and surrendered 55 walks.

Lindenwood begins a 10-game homestand with a pair of midweek contests against Bradley next Tuesday and Wednesday. Game one is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on March 10th, with game two following on the 11th at 1:00 p.m.
