The Lindenwood Softball team wrapped up their home tournament last weekend with a 2-3 record. Both of the Lions victories happened on the final day of the tournament with Lindenwood defeating Green Bay 10-3 and Valparaiso 4-2.
Jalese Hays picked up her first career win in the win over the Phoenix, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing just one run on five hits and striking out two. In the win over the Beacons,
Ryleigh Owens threw a complete game and allowed one earned run on four hits. The Senior from Edwardsville, Ill struck out a season-high five batters to help the Lions improve to 8-10 overall on the 2026 season. Offensively,
Anna Sanders led the Lions over the weekend with a .467 batting average across five games played and recorded seven hits with three of them being extra base knocks. The Sophomore from Hampshire, Ill drove in a team-high six runs and went 3-3 on stolen bases as well as having a .500 on base percentage and a slugging percentage of .733.
Scouting the Opposition
- Senior Catcher Avary Makarewicz leads UT Martin offensively with a batting average of .429 and has a team-high 27 hits and 22 RBI on the 2026 season.
- In the circle, Junior pitcher Sami Scholtz leads the Skyhawks in ERA with a 2.93. She also has two of three saves recorded by UTM's pitching staff this season
- UT Martin currently leads the OVC with an overall record of 12-9
