Lucas Niemeyer has been named a Midseason Second Team Freshman All-American by Perfect Game, as announced on Wednesday afternoon. He is one of just 40 freshmen nationally to be selected to the first or second team.
Niemeyer quickly solidified his spot in Lindenwood's weekend rotation this season and has a 3.00 ERA through 33.0 innings pitched. He has struck out 19 batters while surrendering just eight walks and has given up only 11 earned runs.
In his first career appearance and start, Niemeyer allowed zero runs on just two hits with a trio of strikeouts through 7.0 innings at Arkansas Pine Bluff. He tossed another seven innings of shutout ball in the Lions' 4-0 win over Murray State.
The lefty from Louisville, Kentucky recorded a season-high five strikeouts through four innings of work against Northern Illinois on February 28
th.
Niemeyer is the only Ohio Valley Conference player to be named to any of Perfect Game's five Midseason All-American teams.
