The Lindenwood cross country teams both had strong showings at the Greater Louisville Classic, with both teams having high team finishes and sweeping the individual title in the College Blue races.
Mustapha Habbani won the men's individual title after completing the 8k race in a time of 25:33. He defeated 331 other runners and helped the Lions also win the team title. Lindenwood finished with 61 points, 90 less than runner-up Mercer.
Two other Lions had top-10 finishes, with Nicholas Yegon coming in sixth with a time of 26:00, and Samson Chirchir coming in seventh two seconds later. Also finishing in the team's top five were Benoit Ponton, who finished 27th with a time of 26:41, and Brian Soule, who was 38th with a mark of 26:58.
Francine Nzilampa won the women's individual crown by over 30 seconds after finishing the 5k race in a time of 18:01. She was faster than 297 other runners and helped the Lady Lions come in second behind the University of Kentucky with 117 points.
Jackie Barkechir finished sixth individually with a time of 18:53. Also breaking 20 minutes was Yasmina Elkasmi who was 28th with a time of 19:45. Rounding out the team's five scoring runners were Annabelle Delarue, who was 49th with a time of 20:21, and Jan Bennett, who was 54th with a mark of 20:29.
