The Lindenwood Lady Lions tennis team began their 2009 season with a match-up against Division I opponent Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. At the end of the day the Cougars were too much for the Lady Lions, SIUE was victorious seven matches to two.
SIUE would sweep the doubles portion of the match 3-0. Maggie Boeckman and Laura Horning beat Allison Giles and
Sarah Sharpe of Lindenwood 8-0. Ali Wulfers and Quinlan Duchaine beat the Lion doubles tandem of
Rachel Bailey and
Elise Beckemeier eight games to one. In the final doubles match SIUE's Kelsey Laird and Amanda Miller squeaked by the Lion's

After the doubles the teams moved onto singles. The Lions number one and number two singles, Slovakova and Gilles won their matches 3-6, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-0 respectively. The final four matches went the way of the Cougars.
The Lady Lions will not have any time to think about the defeat because this weekend they will compete in the HAAC Fall Tourney in Marshal, Mo.
