The No. 18 Lindenwood soccer team continued its stellar season with a 2-0 win over non-conference foe, Missouri Baptist, Wednesday night at Harlen C. Hunter Stadium.
Neither team was able to crack the scoreboard in the first half. Lindenwood played most of the half in Missouri Baptist territory outshooting the Spartans 12-3.
Finally in the 62nd minute the Lions broke through when Dule Djurasevic scored after a perfect cross from Senad Cavka. Seven minutes later Missouri Baptist was whistled for a hand ball in the penalty area. Hannas Backstrom would make the Spartans pay connecting on the penalty kick to give the Lions the 2-0 lead.
Lindenwood goalie Victor Francoz was only forced to make one save but recorded his fifth shutout of the season. The Lions defense continues to dominate as the team's goals against average is now at .69.
With the win the Lions improve to 10-3 and have already surpassed the team's total wins from last season. Next up for the Lions is a road trip to take on Benedictine on Saturday afternoon.
