Cross Country Teams End 2010 At HAAC Championships

The Lindenwood cross country teams both saw their strings of conference championships snapped on Saturday at the 2010 HAAC Championships. The Lady Lions finished third at the competition, while the Lions came in fourth.

Tanyaradzwa Chibanda was the lone Lindenwood athlete to earn all-conference honors. She finished seventh during the 5,000m women's race with a time of 19:36. Rachel Hemphill, Ai Shinohara, and Courtney Heidorn all finished better than 21 minutes. Hemphill was 22nd, Shinohara was 28th, and Heidorn was 29th. Rounding out the top five was Kasey Denny who finished 38th with a mark of 21:38.

Baker won the women's team title with 33 points, 11 better than William Jewell. Lindenwood had 122 points, finishing third just ahead of Central Methodist and Evangel.

The men's competition was won by Graceland who had five of the top six runners. Baker was third with 72 points, William Jewell was third at 92 points, and Lindenwood came in with 99 points.

Four Lions were bunch up between 13th and 21st place. Irvine led the team with a 13th place finish as he completed the 8,000m men's race in a time of 27:04. Ben McGraw had a time of 27:19 and finished 15th. Blake Austin and Joshua Schmidt both had times of 27:32 and finished 20th and 21st, respectively. The fifth runner for Lindenwood was Raul Toscano, who came in 37th with a time of 28:34.
