The Lindenwood Lion baseball team was back on the field at the Lou Brock Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon taking on the Evangel Crusaders. Both teams would win a game with the Crusaders winning game one, 5-3 and the Lions winning game two, 9-1.
The Lions were in come from behind mode from the very beginning of game one. Evangel was able to score a run in the top of the first, one in the third and three more in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. Lindenwood would cut into the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning with a three run frame but that was as close as they would get falling to the Crusaders, 5-3.
In the final game of the weekend series, the home team was able to score a run in the bottom of the first inning but Evangel came right back in the second inning tying the game at one without the help of a hit.
With the game tied at one, the Lion offense would tack on four runs in the bottom of the third and two more in the fourth to take a 7-1 lead. The sixth inning saw the Lions score two more runs to give starter
Andy Tretter the extra cushion he needed to win his third game of the year.
Tretter gave the Lions a solid start on the hill only giving up to sixth inning singles. Carlos Piannetta had another big day at the plate with two hits in four at-bats and also drove three runs.
Up next for the Lions is a non-conference game at McKendree on Sunday afternoon.
