The No. 2 Lindenwood women's lacrosse squad closed out its top regular season in school history on Sunday afternoon with a 16-5 victory over No. 17 Central Florida. The game was Senior Day for the Lady Lions and also came in the team's final game of the Lindenwood Invitational, in which Lindenwood went 3-1.
Seniors
Laura Boland and
Ashley Bruce combined for five of the team's goals. Boland put three in and also had two assists, while Bruce had two goals and four groundballs.
Kathyrn St. George had a team-high four goals and tied for the team-high with five groundballs.
Lacey Vatland added three goals,
Jackie Henke had two, and
Justiene Groothuis and
Kristen Papadakos each scored once.
Katie Griffin tied St. George with five groundballs. Another senior,
Caitlin Erickson, played the majority of the game in goal and made four saves.
Lindenwood concludes its regular season with a 16-2 overall record. The Lady Lions will look for their second straight WCLL Tournament Championship next weekend in Toledo, Ohio.
