Lindenwood men's lacrosse saw its longest winning streak of the season and its goal of a regular season conference championship both end at Illinois on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Illini upset the Lions by a 14-10 score in Lindenwood's final regular season contest.
The two teams were tied at five at halftime despite Lindenwood dominating the shots statistic in the half. Illinois took advantage by taking control of the game in the third quarter when it outscored the Lions by a 5-2 margin.
Lindenwood ends its regular season with a 12-5 overall record and a 5-1 conference mark. The Lions will likely get another shot at Illinois next week in the GRLC Tournament, with the winner of that event receiving an automatic bid to the national tournament.
