Lions Win and Move on to HAAC Championship Game

The Lindenwood baseball team defeated Missouri Valley by a score of 13-1 on Friday night in the semifinals of the HAAC Tournament in St. Joseph, Mo.

For the third straight game, the Lion offense dominated opposing pitching. After the Lions went down in order in the top of the first inning, the offense scored at least one run in every inning but the eighth.

Carlos Pianetta led the way at the plate going 2-for-3 and driving in three runs. Mike Gumm came off the bench and hit a two-run home run while Dan Harris pitched in with two RBIs.

Zach Malawey started on the hill and had little trouble with the Vikings. The junior only surrendered one hit and struck out nine while winning his tenth game of the season.

With the win, the Lions advance to the championship game against Avila on Saturday. Lindenwood needs just one win in two games to capture its second straight HAAC Tournament title.
