The Lindenwood field hockey squad dropped its season opener to Missouri State on Saturday afternoon in Springfield, Mo. The Bears erupted for six unanswered goals in the second half to defeat the Lady Lions 7-1.
Haley McCulloch scored Lindenwood's lone goal shortly after halftime to even the score at one.
Kayleigh Harrower was credited with the assist.
Missouri State responded by scoring five goals in the next 14 minutes, and added a sixth in the closing minutes.
The Lady Lions were outshot 22-1, and the Bears held a 14-2 advantage in corner attempts.
Lindenwood will have another shot at earning its first win of the year tomorrow against Missouri at 3:30 p.m.
