Baseball Team Drops Two Games to Lubbock Christian

The Lindenwood baseball team closed out a four-game series against No. 5 Lubbock Christian on Sunday, losing 18-15 and 10-3 in Lubbock, Texas.

The first game of the day was a wild affair. Lubbock Christian scored a run in the bottom of the first but the Lions erupted for six runs in the top of the second, capped off by a Mike Moore grand slam. With the Lions leading 6-1 the game was far from being over.

Lubbock Christian scored a single run in the second and then tied the score at six with a four-run bottom of the third. Lindenwood answered right back in the fourth inning with three more runs to take a 9-6 lead. The home team scored a single tally in the fourth to cut the lead to two.

Once again the Lions put together a big inning, scoring five runs and took what seemed to be a commanding 14-7 lead. But that was not the case, the Chaparrals tied the score at 14 with a seven run frame. Then the home team took the lead in the sixth with four runs. Now trailing, the Lions could only score one run in the seventh and fell 18-15.

The Lions were outhit 15-12 and both teams committed an error. Moore led the Lions at the plate going three for five and six RBIs.  Shelby Anderson also had a big day at the plate going two for four with four RBIs and his sixth homerun of the season.

To close out the series, the Lions fell 10-3. Lindenwood started the game scoring a run in the first inning but the Chapparals answered with three runs in the bottom of the first and one run in the second. The Lions cut the lead to one in the fifth with two runs. The home team didn't take long to get the two runs back as it scored two in the bottom half of the inning. Lubbock Christian ended the scoring with four runs in the sixth.

Anderson once again homered and drove in two runs. Adam Peacock chipped in with two hits and Crispin Tarango drove in a run.

With the losses the Lions drop their overall record to 6-8. Next weekend the team will once again be on the road with a four-game series against Georgetown College in Georgetown, Ky.
