Lindenwood women's lacrosse picked up another home victory on Sunday with a 15-7 win over Savannah College of Art and Design. The Lady Lions are now 2-0 at Hunter Stadium and have outscored the opposition 33-10 in those two games.
The score was tied 2-2 until Lindenwood pulled away with 5-0 run.
Justiene Groothuis was the leading Lady Lions player during that run scoring the final three goals. The Lady Lions led 7-3 at halftime and outscored the Bees 8-4 in the final half.
The junior duo of
Lexi Crusha and
Kara Cashen led the offense by combining for seven goals and eight assists. Crusha had four goals while Cashen scored three, and both recorded four assists. Groothuis and
Kathryn St. George each had three goals and one assist. Other goals came from
Klaysa Fitzpatrick and
Lindsey Brown.
Christine Hehmeyer made 15 saves in goal and
Asia Woodside led the defense with four groundballs.
Lindenwood is now 4-1 on the season. The Lady Lions will be off until starting a four-game road trip to Colorado on March 10.
