The women's lacrosse team defeated Mesa State for the second time this season on Friday afternoon in Grand Junction, Colo. The Lady Lions won this matchup by a 17-12 score.
Mesa State got off to a quick start, but Lindenwood rebounded and tied the game at seven by halftime. In the second half, the Lady Lions scored 10 times to get the victory.
Lexi Crusha and
Justiene Groothuis each had six points. Crusha had four goals and two assists, while Groothuis had five goals and one assist. Kathryn S. George and
Kara Cashen each scored three times, and
Eleni Papadakos and
Katie Griffin each had one goal.
Christine Hehmeyer led the defense with 11 saves in goal.
Lindenwood improves to 6-1 on the season and it has now won four straight. The team will face No. 1 Colorado on Saturday afternoon in Boulder, Colo.
