Lady Lions Fall to Michigan State, Will Face Rhode Island in Fight for Third Place in National Tournament

The Lindenwood women's ice hockey team fell to Michigan State 3-1 in the semifinal round of the ACHA National Tournament on Saturday afternoon in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

The Spartan s scored two goals in the first period to attain the early advantage going into the first intermission.

Michigan State also managed to add another goal in the second period to take a 3-0 lead into the final period of play.

The Lady Lions' lone goal came with 1:32 remaining, as Lisa Moreau put a puck in the back of the net, assisted by Brett Labreau.

The game was marred with 29 penalties, not allowing the teams to establish any kind of rhythm. Lindenwood outshot the Spartans by a 53-22 margin, but couldn't get the result it was seeking.

The Lady Lions will return to the ice on Sunday for their final game of the season, when they take on Rhode Island in the third-place game of the ACHA National Tournament. Lindenwood defeated Rhode Island 4-3 earlier in the tournament.
