Lions Baseball Wins Eighth and Ninth Conference Games in a Row

For the second consecutive day the Lindenwood baseball team swept a doubleheader against the Missouri Valley Vikings in St. Charles. The Lions won game one 6-2 and game two 10-0.
The Vikings started off the first game with a double on the first pitch of the game and then followed that with a single to take an early 1-0. It didn't take the Lions long to tie up the score. With one out Mike Moore doubled to the right centerfield gap and was later driven in by a Crispin Tarango single to tie the score up at one after the first.
Lindenwood took the lead in the third with a pair of runs. The first came when Dylan Lowery walked, made his way to third and came around and scored on a passed ball. The second tally of the inning came after Tarango doubled to score Shelby Anderson all the way from first. 
Missouri Valley trimmed the lead to one after scoring in the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the fifth, the Lions extended the lead with help from the Vikings infield. Missouri Valley committed four errors, which led to three runs. Lindenwood took the lead 6-2 and that would be the final.
The Lions outhit the Vikings 9-6 and Missouri Valley committed four errors.  Tarango, Anderson, and Moore all had two hits. Tarango also drove in a pair of runs and Anderson had one RBI.
Daniel Sandello started for the Lions on won his second game of the season. Ryan Griffen and Tarango came out of the pen to throw three scoreless innings.
It didn't take the Lions long to get on the scoreboard in game two. Moore hit a two-out double in the first inning and was driven in by Anderson, who singled up the middle. Still in the first and after a walk, the Lions had first and second two outs. Sandello delivered a single to drive in Anderson and give the home team a 2-0 lead after one.
The Lions opened up the lead with two runs in the third and one in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. The home team closed out the game with five runs in the bottom of the sixth to win it 10-0.
Moore, Tarango, and Loraine led the team offensively with two hits each. Moore and Loraine also drove in two runs apiece. Julian Marquez started on the hill and went five innings, surrendering just three hits and struck out five.  
With the two wins the Lions improve their overall record to 21-13 and 14-2 in HAAC play. Up next for the Lions is a weekend series against the Central Methodist Eagles in St. Charles.
