Women's Lacrosse Falls In Top-Four Showdown

Two of the top four women's lacrosse teams in the WCLA squared off on Friday night in Gainesville and the No. 3 Florida knocked off No. 4 Lindenwood by a 15-6 score.

Florida led from the very beginning as it scored the first five goals of the game. The two teams played even for the rest of the half and the Gators led 9-4 at the break. In the second half, Florida pulled away as it outscored Lindenwood by a 6-2 margin.

Justiene Groothuis and Kathryn St. George each had two goals in the game, and Kara Cashen and Lexi Crusha had the other scores. Asia Woodside was the defensive player of the game with six groundballs and Christine Hehmeyer made one save in goal.

The Lady Lions will host the Lindenwood Invitational this upcoming week with games against BYU, Georgia, Michigan, and UCLA. Lindenwood will take a 9-4 overall record into that annual event.
