Baseball Team Cruises to 19-2 Win Over MidAmerica Nazarene

The Lindenwood baseball team won its second game of the HAAC Tournament in St. Joseph, Mo. on Saturday afternoon against MidAmerica Nazarene 19-2.

The Lions jumped out to an early lead on the Pioneers, scoring four runs in the bottom of the second inning. The fourth inning saw Lindenwood score another tally, then another three runs in the fifth inning to take a commanding 8-0 lead.

MidAmerica finally got on the scoreboard in the sixth inning, brining across two runs. In the seventh inning, the Lions broke the game open scoring seven runs. During the seventh inning Lindenwood hit two home runs, two singles, and a double taking a 15-2 lead.

The Lions added four more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, and cruised to a 19-2 win. Lindenwood outhit the Pioneers 14-8, while MidAmerica committed six errors.

Six separate Lions had at least two hits led by Daniel Sandello, who was three for four with two RBIs. Mike Moore, Shelby Anderson, Zach Loraine, Matt Tellor, and Jason Streigel also had two hits. Moore also drove in four runs, while Anderson and Loraine both homered.

Cory Trudell started on the hill for the Lindenwood going six innings, striking out six, while allowing no runs on four hits.

The Lions are now 2-0 in the HAAC Tournament and will take on William Jewell, who has also won its first two games. First pitch against the Cardinals is on Monday at 12:00 p.m.
