Kara Cashen Scores Two Late Goals To Give Lady Lions a 12-11 Win Over BYU

Kara Cashen scored twice in the final two minutes of the game to give the No. 6 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team a 12-11 come-from-behind victory over No. 10 Brigham Young on Thursday night at Hunter Stadium. The contest was the first game of the Lindenwood Invitational which features five ranked teams and continues on Friday evening.

The game was back-and-forth with four lead changes and seven ties. Lindenwood led 3-1 early on but BYU scored three straight to go up 4-3. After trading goals, Lindenwood scored the final three goals of the half to go into the locker room at halftime up 7-5.

The first part of the second half was all Cougars as they scored four straight in the first six minutes of the period. Lindenwood tied the game at nine, and both teams added another goal to make the score 10-10. BYU went ahead with 4:09 left before Cashen's late game heroics. She tied the game with 1:51 remaining and then gave the Lady Lions the win with the game-winning goal with 17.8 seconds left.

Cashen had a hand in nine of Lindenwood's 12 goals with eight scores and one assist. Karthryn St. George added three goals and Lexi Crusha had one goal and four assists.

Lindenwood improves to 10-4 with the victory. The Lady Lions will face No. 11 Georgia on Friday night at 9 p.m.
