The Lindenwood field hockey team was edged out by Robert Morris by a 3-2 score in overtime on Saturday afternoon in Moon Township, Pa.
The Colonials struck first, when Erica Musson scored in the 25th minute. The teams headed into halftime with Robert Morris up 1-0.
The home team added to its lead almost eight minutes into the second half on a goal by Chantele Crow. Lindenwood began their comeback in the 53rd minute, when
Ana Maria Llosa found the back of the net, with assists from
Lynsey Porter and
Michelle Sturtevant. The same trio connected on a penalty corner with no time remaining, as Llosa scored her second of the game.
But just twenty-two seconds into overtime, Crow put away her second goal and it was the game winner, as the Colonials came away with the victory.
Samantha Brown got the start in the net, stopping seven shots. Robert Morris outshot Lindenwood 17-11, but the visitors held the advantage in penalty corners, registering nine compared to the Colonials' six.
The Lady Lions drop to 0-4 on the season with the tough loss. Lindenwood will continue on the road when it visits the University of Massachusetts Lowellon September 23rd at 3 pm.
