Women’s Tennis Shut Out 9-0 by Missouri-St. Louis

The Lady Lions tennis team fell in a hard fought battle against the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Wednesday evening. Lindenwood lost to the Tritons by a 9-0 margin.

The women's tennis team struggled to get momentum in doubles competition. Adela Slovakova and Sarah Sharpe fell to Louisa Werner and Sai Pujitha Bandi 8-3 in the No. 1 doubles match while Severine DeBeuf and Rachel Bailey dropped their match to Leanne Cantalupo and Katie Rynkiewich in the No. 2.

Mariona Pinol and Brigitte Bustamante paired up but also fell to the team of Leticia Garcia and Danielle Henkel with a score of 8-3 in the No. 3 match.

In singles action, the Lady Lions came back with vengeance as they lost some matches by close margins. Slovakova was defeated by Werner in the No. 1 match 6-0, 6-1, Pinol fell to Bandi in a closely contested battle 7-6, 6-3 in No. 2, and Sharpe dropped to Cantalupo 6-0, 6-1 in the No.3 match.

DeBeuf lost to Rynkiewich 6-4, 7-6 in the No. 4 match while the No. 5 was the only match a Lady Lion triumphed over a Triton. Bailey took a set off Garcia 6-3, but it wasn't enough when Missouri-St. Louis came back for the win 6-3, 6-0. Bustamante fell to Kristiana Lazarova in the final match 6-2, 4-0, retired.

Along with the men's team, the Lady Lions will be back in action this weekend, Sept. 28-Oct. 2 as they travel to Bolivar, Mo., for the ITA Regional Tournament.
