The Lindenwood men's and women's cross country teams competed in the MIAA Championships Saturday morning. The women placed 10
th out of 12 teams while the men's squad finished 8
th out of 10.
Tanya Chibanda led the Lady Lions for the fifth time this year with a time of 22:40 in the 6k event. Chibanda's time was good for fourth-place overall out of 96 runners and she earned first-team all-conference honors. The fourth-place finish marked her third top-five performance this season, including a first overall finish at Missouri Southern Stampede.
“Tanya moved from 15
th to 4
th in the final stage of the course,” said head coach
Randy Cole. “It was a well-executed race.”
Aaryn Edge recorded a time of 24:16 which was good for 48
th overall.
Courtney Heidorn followed with a time of 24:29 while
Ai Shinohara finished in 25:31. Katie Brosamer-Senger recorded the fifth and final time for the Lady Lions at 26:12. Lindenwood recorded 242 total points as a team as Missouri Southern finished first with 78.
Ben McGraw led the men's team for the fifth time this season finishing the 8k course in 26:10 for 16
th place overall. McGraw earned honorable mention all-MIAA with his time of 26:10.
“Ben did a pretty good job to finish out the race,” noted Cole. “He moved from 40
th place all the way up to 16
th.”
Aaron Parker followed McGraw, placing 62
nd overall with a time of 27:42.
Wesley Barger finished the race with a time of 29:34 while Joshua Jump and
Nathaniel Sagul finished 19 seconds apart for the fourth and fifth time slots. The men recorded 249 points as a team as Fort Hays captured the top spot with 64.
The MIAA Championships marks the final meet for both squads this season.
