Volleyball Finishes 3-1 At SBU Purple Bash

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lindenwood women's volleyball squad wrapped up the Southwest Baptist Purple Bash going 1-1 on day two, falling 3-2 to Arkansas Tech in the morning match and defeating Arkansas at Monticello 3-1 in the afternoon.
 
Every other game went the Lady Lions way in the first match, as Arkansas Tech took sets one, three and five. Lindenwood fell 18-25 in the first, 20-25 in the third and 10-15 in the fifth. The Lady Lions took set two, 25-22 and set four 25-20.
 
Erin Anselman led the Lady Lions offensively, recording a team-high 13 kills at a .346 clip. Katie Weber contributed 12 kills of her own. Emma Brydels topped the 50-assist mark for the fifth time this season with 52. Senior libero Kaila Schrimpf led the team with 22 digs.
 
That was the second time this season that the two teams have matched up. Lindenwood took the first victory 3-2 at the Arkansas Tech Spikefest in early September.
 
Match two turned around for the Lady Lions, dropping only the second set to the Cottom Blossoms by a 23-25 score. Led by freshman Kayla Guyot's 15 kills in the match, the Lady Lions took set one, three and four by scores of 25-14, 25-11 and 25-14, respectively. This was also the second time these two teams met up this year, with Lindenwood taking the first match also at the Arkansas Tech Spikefest.
 
Anselman added 11 kills for the Lady Lions while Brydels recorded a double-double with 41 assists and 14 digs. Two other Lindenwood players recorded double-digit digs with Schrimpf tallying 22 and freshman Allison Waldvogel adding 16.
 
The Lady Lions are now 12-8 the year and have won six out of the last seven. Lindenwood will take almost a week off before traveling to Hays, Kan. on Friday and Kearney, Neb. on Saturday for a pair of back-to-back conference match-ups against Fort Hays State and Nebraska-Kearney.
