Box Score 2 The Lindenwood baseball team kicked off a four-game weekend series against Trinity International with a two-game sweep on Friday afternoon in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions won a pitcher's duel in game one 2-1 and won the second game 12-2 in five innings.
The first game of the day was the
Zac Pearman show as he went six innings, struck out 10, and surrendered just one earned run. Pearman had not given up a hit until the fourth inning when he gave up the first of just three hits on the afternoon.
Lindenwood got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the third inning.
Dylan Lowery and
Colton Moore hit back-to-back doubles to give the home team the 2-0 lead.
The Trojans cut the lead in half in the fifth inning when they scored a run on two hits. With the Lions leading 2-1,
Ryan Griffin came into the contest in the bottom of the seventh inning to try and save the win for Pearman. Griffin recorded his fourth save of the year after getting Trinity International to go down in order.
Lindenwood outhit the Trojans 6-2 while both teams committed two errors. Moore led the Lions with two hits and a RBI. Lowery also scored a run and drove in a run.
Game two of the afternoon was the complete opposite of game one. After Trinity International scored a run in the top of the first, Lindenwood answered with a five run frame capped off by a
Matt Tellor two RBI triple.
The Lions did not let off the gas. Lindenwood scored two runs in the second, one run in the third, and four in the fifth to win the game via the mercy rule. The Lions outhit the Trojans 11-3.
Moore once again led the offense going three-for-four with two runs and two RBIs.
Ryan Light and
Wade Rothermich each had two hits, and Jason Streigel chipped in with two RBIs.
Dylan Terrell started for the Lions and went five innings giving up two earned runs and striking out two. Terrell earned his second win of the season.
After the two wins, Lindenwood is now 8-9 on the season. These two teams will be right back in action Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at the Lou Brock Sports Complex.
