Box Score 3 The Lindenwood baseball team swept a three-game weekend series over the Robert Morris Eagles while not allowing a single run. The series started with the Lions winning game one 11-0 and game two 6-0 in Springfield, Ill. on Saturday. Lindenwood closed out the weekend on Sunday in St. Charles with an 11-0 shutout of the Eagles.
The weekend started with the Lions offense banging out six doubles in game one.
Matt Tellor started the scoring off for the Lindenwood with a home run in the second inning.
Ryan Light broke the contest open with a bases loaded double which cleared the bases and gave the Lions a 4-0 lead.
Light and
Mike Wilson led the way for Lindenwood with a pair of doubles.
Wade Rothermich and
Mario Parra also had a pair of hits. Zach Pearman started on the hill for the Lions and went five innings to earn the win.
Game two was another shutout for Lindenwood.
Dylan Terrell started and went six shutout innings and got the win. Rothermich led the team with three RBIs and a run scored. His RBI double in the sixth inning broke the game open for the Lions.
The final game of the weekend was once again all Lindenwood. The Lions opened the scoring up in the bottom of the first with a three-run frame. The home team added to its lead in the fourth with two runs, then scored four more in the sixth, and single tallies in the seventh and eighth.
Brian Hruby started on the hill and did not allow the Eagles to get a hit until the fifth inning. He went six innings surrendering just one hit and striking out four. Rothermich led the offense going three-for-four with two RBIs.
Dylan Lowery, Light, and
Colton Moore all had two hits each.
With the weekend sweep Lindenwood improved its record to 23-18. The Lions are off until next Sunday when they take on McKendree.
