The Lindenwood men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic Saturday morning. The men's squad had a good showing, finishing 14
th out of 38 teams while the women struggled with illnesses and finished 36
th out of 43 teams.
The men's team was led by
Ben McGraw who finished the 8k course 11
th overall with a time of 26:31.
Brady Novak followed McGraw placing 39
th overall in 27:20.
Aaron Parker and
Wesley Barger finished 23 seconds apart recording times of 28:42 and 29:05, respectively.
Nathaniel Sagul held the final time for the Lions finishing 170
th overall with a time of 29:40.
“The men improved individually but we're still a long ways away from where we think we should be,” said head coach
Randy Cole.
Spartanburg Methodist College won the men's silver division with 44 total points. Lindenwood finished the race with 424 total points and an average time of 28:16.
The Lady Lions were set back with illnesses Saturday which resulted in an uncharacteristic finish.
Tanya Chibanda led Lindenwood for the third time this season, finishing the 5k course in 18:56 for 61
st place.
Ai Shinohara recorded the second score for Lindenwood with a time of 20:02.
Mary Brosamer-Senger and
Aaryn Edge finished nine seconds apart with times of 20:19 and 20:28, respectively.
Jennifer Carter recorded a time of 22:00 for the fifth and final score for the Lady Lions.
West Virginia won the women's blue division with 41 total points. Lindenwood recorded 922 points as a team.
Both teams will be back in action next weekend as they travel to Rolla, Mo. for the Jackling Jocks Invitational.
