Debate Team Has Best Outing of Season at Mountaineer Event

The Lindenwood debate team had their best outing of the season with a preliminary round finish in second place at the Mountaineer Tournament November 15-17 on the campus of Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C.

The team of Adam Mire and Shane Lantham posted a 5-1 record to earn the number two seed in a pool of 16 teams from across the East Coast. The duo defeated James Madison, George Mason, and Liberty University once and topped Vanderbilt twice in the preliminary rounds, but lost an extremely close quarterfinals match-up against West Georgia University on a 2-1 decision.

In other action, the freshman novice duo of Carlo Barth and Charles De Leon went 3-3 in the preliminary rounds, but just missed advancing on speaker points.

The next tournament for the debate team will be the Ulrich Invitational, hosted by the University of Northern Iowa, December 6-8 in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
