The Lindenwood swimming and diving teams concluded action on Saturday at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving National Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
The Lindenwood men's team finished with 127 points and came in 12th place, while the women's team was 18th overall with 83 points. Drury won both team championships with 569.5 points on the men's side and 486 points on the women's side.
Three swimmers earned five All-American awards at the event. On the men's side,
Sylwester Borowicz-Skoneczny was All-American in the men's 1000 free. For the women,
Alecia McGillivray was a three-time All-American in the 500 free, 1000 free, and 1650 free.
Kyleigh Troxel also earned All-American accolades in the 1650 free.
Ten other swimmers and divers were honorable mention All-Americans after scoring points for Lindenwood at the event. For the men, that list included
Gustavo Silva Santa,
Ramunas Paknys,
Mateusz Pacholczyk,
Felix Eigel,
Igor Mijatovic,
David Cochran, and
Schyler Hohenberger. For the women, the honor went to
Hannah Vinyard,
Shelby Werkema, and
Carleen Wayne.
Day One Recap
The finals sessions of day one started with the 1000 free race and Lindenwood made history with its first All-Americans in school history for both the men's and women's programs. On the women's side, McGillivray finished third overall in the race. She swam a time of 10:03.07 which was less than four seconds behind the winner. The men's race was even closer as Borowicz-Skoneczny was runner-up with a time of 9:08.66, less than two seconds behind the champion.
Also in the women's 1000 free, Troxel scored for the Lady Lions as she finished ninth overall with a time of 10:11.68.
Lena Kirchner was 24th in the race and Vinyard was 27th. On the men's side, Silva Santa came in 13th for the Lions with a time of 9:23.21. Mijatovic finished 18th in the race.
Other points for the women's team in day one came in the three-meter dive where Werkema was 14th with a mark of 406.70.
On the men's side, the 200 medley relay finished 11th with a finals time of 1:30.24. That squad was made up of Paknys, Pacholczyk, Eigel, and Silva Santa.
Lindenwood's other competitors on the day were in the men's 200 IM. In the preliims, Eigel led Lindenwood with a 21st-place finish. Pacholczyk was 27th and Paknys was 28th.
Lindenwood men's team scored 33 points on the day and was in the top-10, while the women's team scored 28 points and was in the top-15.
Day Two Recap
Eigel was the top individual men's swimmer for Lindenwood during day two of the competition. He finished tenth in the 400 IM with a finals time of 3:52.34.
In the first men's diving event, Cochran scored for the Lions as he came in 13th in the one-meter dive. He collected a score of 437.50 in the competition. Hohenberger came in 18th in the competition.
Lindenwood's other men's points came from the 400 medley relay team. The squad of Paknys, Pacholczyk, Eigel, and Silva Santa finished tenth with a time of 3:16.88 in the finals.
The final men's swimmers in action were all in the 200 free prelims. Silva Santa finished 19th, Paknys was 29th, and Borowicz-Skoneczny finished 47th.
The Lindenwood women's team had just two individuals competing in day two of nationals. McGillivray had the highest finish by coming in 21st in the 400 IM.
Lena Kirchner was 33rd in the 200 free race.
The men's team scored 25 points on day two and was in 13th place with a total of 58. The women's team was in 20th place after the second day with a total of 28 points.
Day Three Recap
McGillivray was the top highlight on day three of the championships after she advanced to the A-Finals of the 500 free with a prelims time of 4:57.40. She swam a time of 4:59.51 and placed eighth in the event.
Three other members of the women's team scored on day three. In swimming events, Vinyard was 16th in the 200 fly with a time of 2:05.22. In the one-meter diving event, Werkema finished 10th with a mark of 415.50, and Wayne was 13th with a score of 406.85.
Other women's results were Troxel coming in 22nd in the 500 free, Kirchner finishing 31st in the 500 free, and the 800 free relay team coming in 19th.
On the men's side, Lindenwood's top event was the 500 free as three swimmers collected points. Silva Santa led the way by finishing 10th with a time of 4:26.91. Borowicz-Skoneczny was 13th with a time of 4:28.71 and Mijatovic was 15th with a mark of 4:31.64.
The men's team also scored in the 100 back and 800 free relay. Paknys finished 11th in the 100 back after completing the race in 48.45. The 800 free relay team of Paknys, Eigel, Silva Santa, and Borowicz-Skoneczny was 11th with a time of 6:38.69.
Among other men's races, Eigle just missed advancing to the finals after finishing 20th in the 200 fly with a mark of 1:51.56.
Lindenwood's men's team added 31 points to its score on the day and remained in 13th place with 89 points. The women's team added 23 points and sat in 19th place with a total of 51 points.
Day Four Recap
The women's 1650 was the top event for Lindenwood all week long. The Lady Lions placed two swimmers in the top four in Troxel and McGillivray. Troxel was runner-up in the competition with a time of 16:53.38, and McGillivray was fourth with a mark of 16:56.72. Kirchner also swam in the event and finished in 23rd.
In the men's 1650 free, Borowicz-Skoneczny led Lindenwood with a ninth-place finish in a time of 15:37.75. Silva Santa was 11th and Mijatovic was 18th in the event.
In the men's 200-yard back, Paknys scored for Lindenwood after coming in 11th with a finals time of 1:46.13. Eigel just missed the finals after coming in 17th in prelims. In the men's 200 breast, Pacholczyk came in 11th with a finals time of 1:58.72.
Both of Lindenwood's men's divers scored on Saturday.
David Cochran was ninth with a mark of 473.30, missing the finals by just 0.30. Hohenberger was 15th overall with a score of 438.10.
Lindenwood women's team scored a total of 32 points on the final day, and the men's team scored a total of 38 points on the day.
