Head coach Julie Carter has announced the addition of Josie Talbot to the cycling team for the fall 2015 semester.
The Wollongong, New South Wales resident brings a long list of accomplishments to the program, including multiple titles in the U19 Australian National and Oceania Championships. She finished third in the individual pursuit at the 2013 Junior World Track Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. In 2014, she took third in the scratch and points race and first in the team pursuit event at the Junior World Track Championships in South Korea.
Talbot began cycling five years ago, following in the footsteps of her mom and older brother in the sport. She actually started doing triathlons, but didn't like the early morning swim sessions, so decided to streamline her focus.
The 2014 Keira High School graduate was asked why she chose Lindenwood.
"Julie was very welcoming and I like a challenge," she said. "So, moving to the other side of the world, and away from the coast as well, will definitely be challenging, but I look forward to it."
Talbot enjoys the outdoors and the ocean, so swimming a bush walking are some of her other interests outside of cycling. She plans on pursuing a degree in psychology while attending Lindenwood.
