Box Score 2 The Lindenwood men's volleyball team dropped two matches on Friday at the UCSB Asics Invitational in Santa Barbara, Calif. The Lions lost to Long Beach State and Cal State, Northridge.
The Lions lost their season opener by scores of 25-14, 25-16, and 25-21. Long Beach State was able to hit over .400 against Lindenwood, while the Lions hit just .442 in the season opener.
Josh Jones led the team in his Lions debut with eight kills, and
Michael Chard had six kills. A pair of freshmen, Connor Hippelius and
Karsten Staples, each had five kills.
Roman Seghezzi had 26 assists, and Jones and
Ryan Vorderer each had a team-high six digs. Hippelius led the team with three blocks.
The Lions fell to Cal State, Northridge after dropping two close sets to start the match. The final scores were 25-21, 25-23, and 25-14.Â
Team leaders were
Jake Duckworth with nine kills, Seghezzi with 17 assists, Jones with two service aces, Vorderer with six digs, and Hippelius with three blocks.
Lindenwood concludes play at the UCSB Asics Invitational on Saturday against California Baptist.
