Storylines
- The Lindenwood football team has its longest road trip of the season this week. The Lions will travel to Kearney, Neb. for a 2 p.m. game on Saturday against Nebraska-Kearney.

- Lindenwood is coming off its second straight loss to a ranked opponent last week. The Lions hosted No. 1 Northwest Missouri for their Homecoming Contest and fell by a 47-12 margin. The loss dropped Lindenwood to 1-7 on the season and to 1-7 in MIAA play.

- Nebraska-Kearney also enters the game with a 1-7 overall and conference mark. The Lopers, like Lindenwood, picked up their lone win of the season with a home victory over Central Oklahoma. Last week, Nebraska-Kearney could not build on that win with a 31-21 loss at Northeastern State.

- Lindenwood and Nebraska-Kearney have split their four previous meetings. Home-field advantage has been key in the series, with the home team winning every game by an average of 26.8 points.

- In 2015, Lindenwood celebrated its Homecoming with a 28-10 win over the Lopers. The Lions defense had one of their best performances in MIAA play, holding Nebraska-Kearney to 272 yards and 10 points. Offensively, a pair of pass plays of 70 yards or longer in the final 18 minutes of the game helped Lindenwood pull away in the victory.

Connor Harris and Nebraska-Kearney linebacker Tyke Kozeal have the two highest career tackles totals in NCAA history for any level. Combined, the duo has made 1,160 tackles during their careers, with 599 coming from Harris and 561 coming from Kozeal. Harris set a NCAA Division II record with 184 tackles last year, but Kozeal has the edge on Harris this season with 130 tackles through the first eight weeks of the season.

- Both Lindenwood and Nebraska-Kearney struggled with turnovers early in the season, but have solved that issue lately. The Lions have not turned the ball over in two straight weeks, and have just two turnovers the last four games. The Lopers are averaging just 1.3 turnovers a game the last six contests.

- Lindenwood ranks ninth in the MIAA in scoring offense (25.4), and it is tenth in the MIAA in total offense (355.1).

Allen Thigpen has rushed for five touchdowns, and thrown for six scores. He has at least one rushing touchdown in each of the last three contests.

Deantrell Prince is tied with Thigpen with five touchdowns this season. All five of Prince's scores have been receiving touchdowns, including three of 30 yards or longer.

Kendell Sparks moved into Lindenwood's top-10 single-season receptions list last week. He is currently ninth with 52 receptions, 15 behind the all-time record.
