With four straight victories, men's water polo swept through the Missouri Valley Conference Crossover October 1-2 at the Saint Louis University Natatorium in St. Louis, Missouri.  The Lions defeated Missouri 25-6 and host Saint Louis University 28-10 on Saturday and stopped Washington University 22-1 and No. 1 ranked McKendree University 20-5 on Sunday.
The stat sheet was full of Lindenwood players all weekend with Toni Storic leading the way in goals for the Lions in the first game against the Tigers.  He scored five times, followed by Jordan Sacks with four, and Marc Tahull, Diego Aldea, and Jarod Lawson with three each.  Nikola Nasev and Aldea led the team with four assists each in the game, and Nasev, Javier Platero, and Weston White paced the Lions defense with five steals each.  Mario Caballero made five saves in the cage, and was relieved by Lance Clark, who made three saves.
Storic again was the top scorer versus the Billikens with 11 markers.  Platero added six in the match.  Nasev assisted on four goals, with Aldea, White, and Lawson helping on three each.  Nasev was also strong on defense with seven steals, followed by Sacks with five and Platero with four.  Caballero earned the win at goal with five saves.  Clark again entered the game late and stopped three shots.
Against the Bears, Storic led Lindenwood with seven goals, followed by Aldea and Platero with four each.  Tahull assisted on four scores to pace the Lions, followed by Aldea and White with three each.  Tahull also was the steal leader with six in the contest.  Caballero made five saves, as did Clark.
In the long anticipated match-up between the No. 3 ranked Lions and No. 1 ranked Bearcats, Lindenwood took charge early and cruised to a solid victory.  Aldea was the top goal-scorer for the Lions with six, followed by Storic with five, and Platero with four.  Platero also had four assists, and four steals.  Nasev led the team with five take-aways.  With Lindenwood playing stifling defense, Caballero only had to make five saves while Clark just made one
With the four wins, the Lions improved to 12-1 for the season in games played.  After a weekend off, Lindenwood returns to the pool for the Missouri Valley Division Championship October 15-16 at home at the St. Peters Rec-Plex in St. Peters, Missouri.  The Lions play at 4:05 p.m. that Saturday afternoon against the winner of the Washington University versus Missouri S & T match.  If the Lions can get past that game, they will play for the conference title Sunday morning at 11:50 a.m.
In other action from the Missouri Valley Division Conference Crossover October 1-2, the Lindenwood B squad posted a 3-1 mark, starting with an 11-7 loss to McKendree on Saturday, but the Lions rebounded with a 9-5 win over Missouri, and also defeated Missouri S & T 16-2 and Saint Louis University 18-8 on Sunday.  Jake Jagodzinski led Lindenwood with 16 goals in the four games.  Scott Kelly scored eight times, while Edu Ariste, Curro Casado, and Sean Welch each totaled six markers.  Jagodzinski and Kelly were the assist leaders with five each, followed by Ariste and Casado with four each.  Kelly was the obvious steals king for the weekend with 16.  He was followed by Michael Jordan with 11 take-aways and Jagodzinski with 10.  Sam Beckwith went 3-1 in the cage with 51 saves overall.
