The Lindenwood men's and women's cross country teams competed on Saturday afternoon at the Principia Cowbell Classic in Elsah, Ill., and once again had runners finish atop the leaders.
The men had a new leader in a 2016 meet in
Ero Doce. The sophomore placed second with a time of 25:09.32. Senior
Colin Cernik finished eighth, while teammates
Jerod Broadbooks and
Austin Crowe placed 10th and 11th, respectively.
Newcomer
Omar Es Salmouny finished the scoring for the men, placing 13th with a time of 26:42.21.
The men dominated the competition, earning 44 points as a team, 31 more than the runner-up.
The women finished fourth as a team.
Anna-Lena Theisen placed first among the team once again, and fourth overall with her time of 23:22.34.
Ashley LaPointe (21st) and
Kayli Brower (31st) crossed the finish line next for the team, while
Amanda Brisso and
Caitlyn Most both finished in the top-54 out of the 140 competitors.
In the latest regional poll, the men weighed in at No. 8 in the central region.
The MIAA cross country championships will be held October 22 from Elsah, Ill.
