Storylines
- The Lindenwood football team heads out of state for the second straight week when it travels to Washburn for a 6 p.m. contest in Topeka, Kan. against the Ichabods.

- The contest will be a battle between a pair of 1-1 teams. Lindenwood opened the season with a win over Central Oklahoma, but lost last week to Northeastern State. The Ichabods defeated Northeastern State in week one, and they lost to No. 1 Northwest Missouri in week two.

Connor Harris continues his pursuit of the NCAA All-Division career tackles record. Harris became NCAA Division II's all-time leader last weekend, and currently has 522 career tackles. Harris is ninth on the All-Division list, and is 28 tackles behind the all-time leader.

- If past history is any indication, this contest could go down to the wire. Lindenwood and Washburn have played four times, and both teams have won twice in the series. All four games have been decided by single-digits, and two of the four games have seen the game-winning touchdown scored with 23 seconds left in the game.

- Lindenwood is 1-1 in games played in Topeka, including a 44-38 win in its last visit in 2014.

- Last season's game between the Lions and Ichabods was a defensive battle. Washburn led 14-13 late in the game, but
Greg Coble caught a seven-yard touchdown pass for a 20-14 Lions victory.

- Turnovers have played a big role in Lindenwood's games this season. The Lions had a +4 turnover margin in the opener, and they won by 23 points. Lindenwood was -3 in the turnover department against Northeastern State and it fell by four points.

- Lindenwood's offense has been led by a running game that is averaging nearly 200 yards a game on the ground. The Lions ranks third in the MIAA in rushing yards per game, and are also third with 5.2 yards per carry. The Ichabods are third in the conference by allowing just 100.0 rushing yards a contest, and they are fourth by allowing 3.2 yards per carry.

- Lindenwood ranks third in the MIAA in scoring offense (40.0), and it is fourth in the MIAA in total offense (442.5).

- Running back
Calen Campbell had his first 100-yard rushing game last week with 146 yards against the RiverHawks. It was the first 100-yard game for a Lions running back since the second week of the 2013 season.

Kendell Sparks is on pace to shatter Lindenwood's single-season receptions record. He is fifth nationally with 9.5 receptions per game, and he is averaging 83.5 receiving yards per contest.

DeSean Warren remains Lindenwood's deep wide receiver threat. He has caught 11 passes in 2016, and four have gone for 20 yards or longer. He is averaging 102.5 receiving yards per game, and 25.6 yards per reception.

Mason Bendigo has thrown a touchdown pass in four consecutive games, and he has thrown at least one touchdown in seven of his nine collegiate starts.

Lions Defense
- Lindenwood's defense ranks seventh in the MIAA in scoring defense (30.5), and is 12th in total defense (503.5).

- Lindenwood has scored three defensive touchdowns this season, with two interception return touchdowns by
Bakari Triggs and a fumble return touchdown by
Wesley Thomas. The Lions already have more defensive touchdowns than any season since they joined the MIAA. Lindenwood is tied for first in the nation with four other teams with its three defensive touchdowns.

Bakari Triggs leads NCAA Division II with 5.5 passes defended a game, and he is second in interceptions. Triggs has three interceptions and eight pass breakups on the season.

Connor Harris extended his streak of double-figure tackle game to 18 against Northeastern State. In his career, Harris has averaged 11.0 tackles a game in three contests versus Washburn.

Antron Watts set a career-high last week with 13 tackles against Northeastern State, and he also led the team with 2.0 tackles for loss. Watts is the first Lindenwood player, besides
Connor Harris, to lead the team in tackles for a game since week three of the 2015 season.

Lions Special Teams

Travis Spraul collected his first collegiate field goal against Northeastern State, making a 27-yard field goal in the final seconds of the first half. He was also perfect on his four PAT tries in that game.

Allen Thigpen and
Connor Harris continue to split punting duties. Harris punted three times last game, and all three were inside the 20-yard line. His punts were downed at the 11, 18, and two yard lines.

Team Notes
- The Lions will look to improve their third-down play on both sides of the ball. Lindenwood has a 29 percent third-down conversion, while its opponents have a 50 percent mark. On offense, the team is five-of-10 on third -down plays of four yards or less, but just four-of-21 on third-down plays of five yards or longer.

- Lindenwood returns home on Sept. 24 for a 6 p.m. game against Pittsburg State. That contest will take place during Family Day at Lindenwood.
