Box Score The No. 2 ranked Lindenwood women's lacrosse team took down the Colorado-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions by a final score of 19-4 on Tuesday evening from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. Lindenwood had six players record multi-goal efforts during the team's sixth RMAC victory of the season.
Lindenwood's
Hunter Waldau took control of the game early, scoring twice within 81 seconds to give the Lady Lions a two-goal lead. Waldau would finish the half with four goals and one assist, as Lindenwood built itself a 14-goal lead before halftime.
Other key contributors during the opening frame for Lindenwood were
Jenna Battaglini,
Garland Fiser,
Remi Larson, and
Cassie Stucklen. Battaglini found the back of the cage three times during the half for the Lady Lions, while Fiser, Larson, and Stucklen all scored twice.
Sarah Cromer also netted a first-half score for Lindenwood.
Delaney Solomon made her fourth start of the season in the cage for Lindenwood, blanking UCCS over the first 30 minutes of play to earn her fourth victory.
Aly Smith relieved Solomon to begin the second half, and posted one save during her time in goal.
Lindenwood outscored UCCS by a 5-4 margin during the second half, pushing the game to its final mark of 19-4.
Sarah Goetz opened the second-half scoring for the Lady Lions, scoring her first of two goals of the game during the second period.
Alana Jeronimo notched the first score of her Lindenwood career during the half, which also featured goals from
Emma Wildhart and Waldau.
For the game, Cromer and Stucklen each secured seven draw controls, establishing new single-game career-highs in the category.
Morgan Reader and
Carly Fedorowski led Lindenwood with three caused turnovers apiece. The Lady Lions finished the game with 18 caused turnovers. Fedorowski also paced Lindenwood with six groundballs.
Waldau led all scorers with six points, followed by Stucklen's total of five points. Eleven different Lady Lions tallied at least one point.
Following the victory, Lindenwood improves its record to 12-0 and 6-0 from within the RMAC. The Lady Lions will return to action on Thursday afternoon at historic Homewood Field in Baltimore, Md. for a neutral site contest with No. 16 Lock Haven. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. ET/12:00 p.m. CT.
