The Lindenwood table tennis squad swept the top team and individual spots at the National Collegiate Table Tennis Association (NCTTA) Spring Divisional February 3 at Evan's Commons in St. Charles, Missouri.
The Lions claimed the top six individual men's spots, led by Massao Kohatsu. He was followed by Jeff Yamada, Alex Legaria, Santiago Sevilla, Joaquin Kanashiro, and Filip Cajka. Lindenwood players claimed four of the top five spots in women's competition, led by Chelsea Edghill. Martina Kohatsu was second, followed by Ahrefe Shuhrahfatee from Washington University, Shraddha Belbase, and Liaoliao Gong. The top four men and top four women automatically qualify for regionals.
Lindenwood won the Coed Team, Junior Coed Team, and Women's Team titles as well, finishing ahead of Washington University in all three divisions. That automatically advances those squads to NCTTA Regionals, which are scheduled for February 24-25 at Evans Commons in St. Charles, Missouri. The results of regional competition determine who qualifies for the 2018 NCTTA Nationals in Round Rock, Texas in late April.
