The table tennis coed and women's teams advanced to Nationals with performances at the National Collegiate Table Tennis Association (NCTTA) Regional Tournament February 24-25 at Evans Commons in St. Charles, Missouri. Additionally, Lindenwood also advanced six men and one woman to individual competition.
The Lions finished first in coed team competition to advance to the national tournament along with the University of Illinois – Chicago in second place. The Lindenwood roster included Massao Kohatsu, Jeff Yamada, Alex Legaria, Santiago Sevilla, Joaquin Kanashiro, and Filip Cajka. All six also advanced in men's singles play with Kohatsu finishing first, followed by Legaria in second, Kanashiro in third, Yamada in fourth, Sevilla in fifth, and Cajka in sixth.
The Lady Lions finished second in women's team competition behind the University of Minnesota in first place to be among the top two teams to advance to nationals. The Lindenwood roster included Chelsea Edghill, Martina Kohatsu, Shraddha Belbase, and Liaoliao Gong. Edghill took second in women's singles to advance to the national tournament. Yixin Zhang from the University of Minnesota claimed the top position to also advance.
Table tennis travels to Columbus, Ohio for the Arnold Challenge March 3-4. The event will be held at Center Ohio State Fairgrounds.
