The swimming and diving teams competed at the NSISC Championships in Cleveland, Mississippi this past week. The event started on Wednesday and concluded on Saturday afternoon.
Lindenwood standouts on day one were Matheus Isidro and Hoaning Chen who each picked up first place finishes, as well as
Erin Sutton and
Lexie Winnett who each picked up second place honors. The women's 200-yd medley relay team finished in third place, while the men's team finished in second place in the same event. The women finished the day in second place with 253 total points. The men compiled 201 total points and finished day one in second place behind Delta State.
Day two started out on the right foot for Lindenwood with the women's 200-yd freestyle relay team finishing in 1
st place. The men's 200-yd freestyle relay team followed suit with a 1
st place finish of their own. Individually,
Haoning Chen picked up his second first place finish of the meet, winning the 200-yd IM.
Both teams dominated day three in Mississippi. Lindenwood compiled five individual first place finishes and two second place finishes. Matheus Isidro picked up a first place finish in the 500-yd freestyle and the 200-yd butterfly. Other first place finishers on day three included
Simone de Rijcke (500-yd freestyle),
Justin Winnett (100-yd breastroke), and
Ashley Holloway (1-mtr dive). Both teams also picked up first place honors in the 800-yd freestyle relay.
On the final day of the event, both teams combined for three first place finishes and four second place finishes. The women's team finished the event in first place, clinching their second straight Conference Championship. The men's team finished the event in second place.
