The Lindenwood Swimming and Diving teams competed at the NCAA Division-II National Championships in Greensboro, N.C. this past week.
DAY ONE:
On Wednesday afternoon,
Simone de Rijcke picked up the best individual performance of the day for Lindenwood, finishing in 2
nd place in the 1000-yd freestyle. She picked up All-American status with her finish and also set a new school record.
Other notables for the women's team included the 200-yd medley relay team with a 13
th place finish and also
Lexie Winnett, who finished the 50-yd freestyle in 16
th place.
The women's team finished the day tied for 12
th with 28 total points.
The men's team performed well in the 200-yd medley relay, picking up an 8
th place finish.
Blake Logan,
Justin Winnett, Matheus Isidro, and
Michal Szczukowski all earned All-American status with the win.
Michal Szczukowski also picked up a 16
th place finish in the 50-yd freestyle event.
The men's team finished the day in 11
th place with 27 total points.
DAY TWO:
Simone de Rijcke continued her great start to the National Championships on Thursday with a first-place finish in the 200-yd freestyle. Her National Championship clinching time was 1:20.29, which also set a new school record.
Also on the women's side,
Erin Sutton finished in 8
th place in the 400-yd individual medley, earning All-American status.
Morgan Fischer finished the 200-yd freestyle in 8
th place. The women finished in 13
th place in the 200-yd freestyle relay (All-American Honorable Mention) and finished in 8
th place in the 400-yd medley relay (All-American status).
On the men's side,
Cristian Vasquez finished the 400-yd IM in 3
rd place, earning All-American status. Also, Matheus Isidro finished the 100-yd fly in 12
th (All-American Honorable Mention) and
Kian Quigley finished the 400-yd IM in 15
th (All-American Honorable Mention). The men finished in 14
th place in the 200-yd freestyle relay, earning an All-American Honorable Mention.
After day two, the women currently sit in 7
th place with 102 points, while the men currently sit in 14
th with 56 total points.
DAY THREE:
On the women's side, Simone de Rijcke finished in 2nd place in the 500-yd freestyle. The women also picked up a 2nd place finish in the 800-yd freestyle relay, setting a new school record
On the men's side, Matheus Isidro picked up a 3rd place finish in the 200-yd butterfly, while Cristian Vasquez finished the 200-yd butterfly in 4th place. Justin Winnett finished the 100-yd breaststroke in 6th place. The men's 800-yd freestyle relay team picked up a 9th place finish.
The women finished day three in 5th place with 166 total points, while the men finished the day in 8th place with 123 total points.
DAY FOUR:
On the women's side, Lexie Winnett picked up a first-place finish in the 50-yd freestyle swim off. Simone de Rijcke picked up an 8th place finish in the 1650-yd freestyle, while Ewa Dymarek finished the 200-yd breaststroke in 15th place. The women also finished the 400-yd freestyle relay in 7th place.
On the men's side, Justin Winnett finished the 200-yd breaststroke in 12th, while Zach Linder finished the 100-yd freestyle in 16th place.
Both teams finish the season with impressive performances at the National Championships. The women's team finished the event in 6th place with 203 total points, while the men's team finished the event in 12th with 129 total points.
